About this course
Working in a café or coffee shop is one of the most popular casual jobs and knowing how to make and serve a good cup of coffee is a skill that needs to be learned.
The Value Gained
This course will train you to become a Barista. You will learn about all aspects of using a commercial espresso machine to make coffee. Be it a cappuccino, a latte, a flat white or an espresso, all start life from an espresso shot.
Key training benchmarks
- Selecting which beans and what grind to use
- Extracting the coffee from the beansusing the espresso machine.
- Making the different coffees - cappuccino, latte, flat white etc
- Texturing the milk (frothing) to make killer cappuccinos.
- Serving the coffee so that it looks like a piece of art too good to drink!
- Cleaning the machine.

- Small groups - The training is organised when there are sufficient numbers to comprise a group of around 10 participants.
- Accredited – this training is nationally accredited.
- Fee - $130 per person.
This course is conducted by St Patrick’s Institute of Education.
